Principal's Message

Dear Meadow Lane Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Rita Mitchell and I am excited to be the principal of Meadow Lane Elementary School. I have been a part of the Cascade School District for 18 years. During my tenure here in Cascade I have taught first and second grade, coordinated the K-5 Schools Learning Centers, and most recently have been the District Coordinator of Curriculum, ELD program, Indian Ed. and Director of the Preschools.

It is an honor and pleasure to work with the staff at Meadow Lane. Meadow Lane School believes that it is a place where strong connections are necessary between the home and school and where all staff members are committed to developing the whole child.

I value both of these characteristics and am excited to help continue moving Meadow Lane along the path of excellence. Throughout my years in education, I have continued to stay current on best practices for students and successful schools. In my eyes, one of the most important aspects of my work as Meadow Lane’s Principal is building solid relationships with students, families and teachers.

It will be very important to me to be in the hallways, classrooms and on the playground getting to know your children. In addition to building strong relationships with all of you, it will be particularly important to me to ensure that you and your child feel safe at school. If you ever have a concern about something or a question about a specific situation or procedure please does not hesitate to call or email me.

Communication is paramount in a school. For this reason, I will always encourage you to contact your child’s teacher or me with questions. Meadow Lane Elementary is a school that has many things to be proud of and we thank you for your support and look forward to the opening of the 2013-14 school year!
